Position Description

Summit Charter School is currently seeking applications for a full-time or part-time school counselor to begin in August 2022.


The School Counselor is vital to the whole-child focus of Summit’s mission in providing social-emotional support services to students and collaborating with teachers to plan and facilitate programming that helps foster character and social-emotional learning. The Middle and High School Counselor focuses services and programming in grades 6-12, and will partner with the Lower School Counselor to support Summit’s mental health and social-emotional learning program K-12. The Middle and High School Counselor reports to the Director of Student Experiences.


  • Plan and conduct appointments with parents as needed.
  • Plan and conduct social-emotional learning lessons in coordination with classroom teachers.
  • Coordinate middle school and high school advisory programs.
  • Assist teachers with development of student behavior plans when necessary.
  • Maintain communication with EC Director, Related Service Providers and Case Managers to ensure compliance with provision of counseling services.
  • Provide social-emotional support services to students.
  • Help mediate conflict.
  • Facilitate drug, alcohol and bullying prevention programs.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be licensed as a School Counselor in North Carolina

Salary & Benefits

Summit Charter School offers a competitive salary in sync with the North Carolina Public School scale.
