Principal

Primary Role:

Serve as the site-based leader of the school. Responsible for implementing and managing the policies, regulations, procedures, and TMSA curriculum, to ensure all students have a safe learning environment and receive instruction that meets or exceeds TMSA standards. Responsible for leading curriculum content and course development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial management, facilities operations, emergency procedures, and resource scheduling.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of school administration experience

Required Education:

• Complete a state-approved school administration program
• Master’s degree in Education Leadership or Administration

• Design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership
• Ensure that all Board policies are implemented and followed
• Attend all Board Meetings
• Support and promote the school’s mission, vision, and culture
• Monitor and work within the school’s budget
• Recruit and maintain high-quality staff
• Maintain a good relationship with students, staff, and parents
• Communicate the school’s accomplishments within TMSA, with the school community, and with public media
• Design scheduling processes and protocols that maximize staff input and address diverse student learning needs
• Collaborate with staff to create opportunities for parents, community, and businesses to participate in the school
• Be easily accessible to staff
• Resolve short-term issues while balancing them against long-term goals
• Evaluate student progress in the current instructional program using current student performance data
• Effectively utilize the latest technology to continuously improve the management of the school and enhance student instruction
• Manage time and staff well, including running effective meetings
• Manage, direct, and maintain records on materials, supplies, and equipment in order to carry out the daily routine
• Monitor and work to improve student and staff attendance
• Maintain acceptable student behavior in all areas of the school
• Establish and maintain a safe environment for all staff and students
• Attend the Superintendent’s principal meetings
• Submit all reports required by NC DPI Charter School Office in a timely manner
• Other duties, as assigned, by Superintendent
