Job Description:
The Charter School Accounting Specialist provides expert financial management and support services tailored to the unique needs of charter schools. This role ensures compliance with North Carolina's LINQ financial system requirements, delivers accurate financial reporting, and supports schools in achieving financial stability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee and manage the financial operations of charter schools, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal funding guidelines, including reporting deadlines and audit requirements.
  2. LINQ System & AP Automation Expertise:
    • Maintain proficiency in the LINQ financial software, providing accurate data entry, reporting, and reconciliation services.
    • Manage and integrate automated accounts payable systems to streamline vendor payments, approvals, and reporting.
    • Ensure seamless data flow between LINQ and AP automation platforms to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  3. Reporting and Compliance:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for school leadership and governing boards.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and charter school financial policies.
  4. Advisory Services:
    • Collaborate with school leadership to develop financial strategies that align with educational goals.
    • Offer guidance on fiscal planning, grant management, and financial best practices.
  5. Audit Preparation:
    • Assist with external audit preparation, providing all necessary documentation and support to auditors.
    • Address audit findings and recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance and transparency.
  6. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as a liaison between the school and external financial entities, including state agencies, grant providers, and vendors.
    • Communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Proven experience in charter school accounting or public school financial management.
  • Proficiency in LINQ financial software and experience managing automated accounts payable platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of North Carolina’s charter school financial requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
