Elementary School

The kindergarten teacher, in collaboration with a grade level team, will create a nurturing and familial classroom community to provide our earliest learners with an engaging environment in which they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.  Within that setting, the teacher will provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities which will support students while helping them reach their highest potential.

Curriculum Planning and Implementation

  • developing and implementing age appropriate lesson plans aligned with ECS curriculum, as well as state and national educational standards
  • teaching all subject areas to students of varying ability levels within a self-contained setting utilizing hands-on, experiential methods
  • lead a daily morning meeting that focuses on social emotional learning

Classroom Management

  • establishing and maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning that aligns with Endeavor’s Mission and Values
  • setting clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, and consistently enforce classroom rules and procedures
  • addressing disciplinary issues promptly and constructively, using positive reinforcement and conflict resolution strategies

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • regularly assess student learning through formal and informal methods, including mClass Dibels 8
  • analyzing assessment data to identify individual student strengths, weaknesses, and areas of improvement
  • providing timely and constructive feedback to students, administrators, and parents/guardians on academic progress and goals

Differentiated Instruction

  • differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, modify lesson plans and assignments as necessary to accommodate individual learning styles, interests, and abilities

Collaboration

  • collaborating with grade level team, intervention teachers, special education teachers, instructional coaches, and other support staff 
  • collaborating productively with a full-time teaching assistant

Professional Development

  • participating in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, stay abreast of best practices, and incorporate new research-based strategies into instruction
  • engaging in reflective practice to evaluate and continuously improve teaching effectiveness and student engagement

Basic Qualifications Required

  • Currently NC certified
  • Experience teaching lower elementary ELA and math preferred
  • 3 professional references that can speak to your success as an educator

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of early literacy and phonemic awareness,  Science of Reading strategies, and mathematics
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and manage small group instruction
  • Knowledge of assessment strategies 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
