The Elementary English Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher Long-Term Leave Replacement will partner with grade level colleagues to plan and deliver daily Language Arts and Social Studies lessons for approximately 34 students total (2 ELA classes, and 2 Social Studies classes). The leave will begin on April 7, 2025 and end on June 9, 2025. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • teaching 5th grade English Language Arts/Social Studies using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • collaborating with grade-level teaching partners.
  • understanding, teaching and enriching the NC Standard Course of Study curriculum.
  • developing effective lesson plans and instructional materials. 
  • establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior necessary in achieving an effective learning atmosphere.
  • keeping appropriate/accurate records and preparing report cards.
  • communicating with parents to discuss students’ progress
  • performing other duties as assigned by the administrators.

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid teaching license in elementary education preferred
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts/Social Studies preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills 
  • Salary based on experience and education level, aligned with Wake County Schools Scale (Daily Rates)
