Looking for a promotion in 2025?  Retired and ready to get back into the action? East Voyager Academy of Charlotte has an immediate opening for an Assistant Principal focusing on Testing, Accountability and Technology. This is a new position.  East Voyager Academy is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 public charter school and is the first school-wide Chinese Language Immersion school in NC.  Open since 2018, we are known for a small, language-rich environment and academic growth.

NATURE OF WORK

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of supervisory, professional, and administrative tasks in the administration for all State and local tests, and facilitates improving student achievement through  smooth administration of all assessments and assisting staff with data driven instruction. The employee also works with internal and external personnel, agencies, and vendors to implement the most effective means of administering testing and to keep all technology systems and electronic curriculum products operating smoothly. The employee provides training and coaching to staff on implementation of instructional technology. The employee works closely with the third party technology support consultants for e-rate funding, technology grants, equipment and inventory maintenance.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizes, directs and implements testing, accountability and technology department goals; sets growth goals and directs testing administration programs; executes, monitors, and evaluates the progress of the programs.

Based on State testing schedule and local assessment needs, creates and implements the annual testing schedule and produces informative administration reports as needed.

Secures all testing materials and documents through guiding all testing coordinators, specialists, and testing material support personnel to follow State and local testing ethics and rules.

Prepares and provides materials to the Principal for presentation to the Board of Trustees, teachers, parents and community groups; attends regular meetings of the Board as designated by the Principal; conducts staff meeting presentations as needed; attends other related meetings.

When needed will draft letters and memoranda for the Principal.

Maintains and updates the school website and the electronic signage displays.

Maintains records, reports, inventories and documentation of costs for budget preparation and to ensure the fiscal responsibility of the organization and is accountable for testing materials.

Manages collection and reporting of family income status/EDS.

Assists administrative team with behavior management and school culture as assigned.

Coordinates with the AIG program and registrar regarding identification of AIG students.

Coordinates planning with the ELA teachers and the principal on Read To Achieve Summer Camp.

Performs special projects assigned by the Principal.

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Certified or eligible to be certified as a teacher or administrator in NC, background experience and expertise in use, maintenance and troubleshooting of instructional technology such as interactive whiteboards, ThinkPads, Chromebooks or various instructional software products.  Familiar with WIX website developer tools or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal and counseling terminology.

Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages.

Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving of instructions.  Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of educational administration, or testing and evaluation in general. Special knowledge of North Carolina testing programs including regular EOG tests and alternative tests for special needs students; as well as local needs tests and assessments (iReady or similar product) is a must.

Thorough knowledge of program guidelines and professional standards.

Considerable knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.

General knowledge of the principles of organization, supervision, and administration.

General knowledge of database, statistics, and graphical software.

Skill in training and supporting school administration, data managers, and other staff.

Skill in designing data collection instruments such as Google surveys.

Ability to develop and implement short-and long-term goals that would move the testing and accountability program forward.

Ability to develop and present training.

Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports, charts and graphs from them.

Ability to use common office machines and popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.

Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments

FSLA STATUS: Exempt

Salary Range: $50,000- $60,000 based on experience and training
